Tamerlan Tsarnaev

Mysterious teacher ‘Misha’ became the next important person in the Boston Marathon case soon after Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s Uncle Ruslan Tsarni claimed in an interview to CNN that a person in Cambridge, Massachusetts influenced Tamerlan’s mind and turned him into a monster.

And after the Tsarnaev brothers’ mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, confirmed that a family friend named ‘Misha’ was close to the family and had spiritual influence over her older son, everyone was of the opinion that this person might have a lot to do with the Boston explosions that claimed three lives and left 176 injured.

Though there was no word of Misha’s existence in the U.S. or Russia a week ago, the FBI have now claimed that the mysterious man has been located and is being investigated by the authorities.

The wait is over for the common masses that had been waiting to know more about this controversial figure related to the Tsarnaevs since Christian Caryl of The New York Review of Books met Misha and revealed even more interesting facts coming straight from the man himself.

1-      Name, Appearance:

Misha’s full name is Mikhail Allakhverdov who lives in a lower middle class neighborhood in Rhode Island (Yes, he is in the United States). The man lives with his American girlfriend and elderly parents. Mikhail is a thirty nine year-old-man who has a medium height and thin, reddish blonde beard.

2-      Lineage / Conversion to Islam:

Mikhail is of Armenian and Ukrainian descent. His father is an Armenian Christian and mother is an ethnic Ukrainian. They lived in Baku, Azerbaijan and fled to the U.S. in the early 1990s. Allakhverdov admitted that he is a convert but insisted that he didn’t support extremism.

3-    Association With Tamerlan:

Mikhail said that he knew Tamerlan ‘until about three years ago’ and hasn’t had any contact with the older Tsarnaev ever since the two parted ways. Allakhverdov didn’t elaborate on the nature of their brief association and denied the allegations that he was the one to radicalize Tamerlan’s mind. He said he wasn’t the dead suspect’s teacher. Mikhail said that he loved America and had never imagined that he would get caught up in a situation like this.

4-    Response To Tsarnaev Family Allegations:

Mikhail Allakhverdov turned down all the allegations put against him by the Tsarnaev family members who said that he was responsible for Tamerlan’s radical views which eventually led him to plot attacks. Mikhail not only denied the accusations, he also declined associating or even meeting those family members.

5-    Helping The FBI:

The man who was being considered as the master planner of the attacks said that he was not involved in the Boston Marathon attacks in any way. Mikhail Allakhverdov claimed that he was, instead, cooperating with the FBI and had given them his computer and phone to help them further investigate his case, which according to Mikhail, is about to be closed. Word is out that the FBI has not found any connection between ‘Misha’ and the bomb explosions.

Turns out, the mysterious teacher ‘Misha’ is not mysterious anymore. Though some of the previous facts we learned about him are correct (like his appearance and line of descent), other facts such as his association with Tamerlan and him being the older suspect’s ‘teacher’ are not true.

Whether or not Mikhail Allakhverdov’s case will be closed, remains to be seen.
