The absence of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s wife from public view for more than a month has fueled speculation about her relationship with the regime and her state of well being. After it was confirmed that Ri Sol-ju was Kim Jong-un’s wife, she began making frequent public appearances with her husband.
The young first lady who is believed to be in her late-twenties, is famous for her western style dressing sense and carrying designer handbags, all of which is considered a faux pas in the socialist regime of North Korea.
One thought about her sudden disappearance, as reported by sources is that the young bride is pregnant and is therefore avoiding a public appearance in such a condition, but there has been no confirmation
Another source speculates that Ri has lost favor of some top members of the Communist party that rules the country. This rumor stems from the fact that recent photos show Ri without a lapel pin that is mandatory for all adult North Korean women to wear. The pin features the face of Kim Jong-un, the ruler of the country.
Ri has always been a source of attention for global media especially after it was disclosed that Kim Jong-un’s father was strongly against Ri and did not want his son to marry her. However, it was Kim’s father demise that allowed him to pursue his romantic relationship with Ri.
