Tagg Romney said his father Mitt Romney had no intention of running for President again after his failure to become the Republican presidential nominee in 2008.
In order to overcome his father's reluctance, Tagg Romney told the Globe he and his mother Ann worked to change his mind.
"He wanted to be president less than anyone I've met in my life," Tagg said. "If he could have found someone else to take his place ... he would have been ecstatic to step aside."
Tagg Romney described his father saying he “is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them. He loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”
That brings us to three possibilities:
1) May be that’s why since his loss, he hasn’t been seen moping around or have disappeared completely off the radar to lick his wounds or wallow in gloom. Instead, he has been spotted leading a relatively normal life. Going as far as pumping his own gas, watching "Breaking Dawn" and even a, watching a boxing match.
2) Does Romney, a multibillionaire businessman, actually pump his own gas? Or is it all a show to put on a I-care-not show for face saving?
3) Romney was just a stooge, set to ensure Obama does win? If that’s the case, we don’t find it surprising that Tagg wanted to punch the President during the second electoral debate!
Apparently Tagg had compileda list of 12 people whose lives had been touched by his father and whom he believed would provide compelling stories to help present his father to voters. But Romney’s senior advisors didn’t agree to the plan, at least not unanimously. Some pressed for the former Massachusetts governor to tell more of his personal story. Others thought it was a bad idea.
Tagg and his family’s idea for a short documentary film with more personal stories was also shot down.
Does that indicate at a presidential race tilted, if not rigged towards a pre-determined result? Romney on the other hand blamed his loss on President Barack Obama’s “gifts” to minorities specially Latinos, women and the poor. But even if that’s the case, who can explain Romney’s blunder after blunder making him seem unfit to rule the people of America? He virtually alienated the people before the elections!
