A mother and her four children were killed in a house fire early Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
There were conflicting reports initially on the ages of the victims, but the Associated Press quotes fire department Maj. Tammy McKinney as saying the dead were four children ages 2 to 8 and one woman.
NewsOK reported that the woman is the children's mother.
One other adult was hospitalized in critical condition, McKinney said.
Battalion Chief Randy Cornelius said the interior of the home, about a mile east of Lake Hefner in northwest Oklahoma City, appeared completely "gutted" by the fire, the Associated Press reported.
NewsOK reporter Robert Medley said fire investigators were still looking into the cause of the fire but have not reported finding anything suspicious.
NewsOK quoted a neighbor, Toni Wyatt, as saying she rushed over to the blaze after smelling smoke and hearing three loud pops at 6:30 a.m. CT.
"I heard a guy yelling, 'Help! Help!' I went over to see what was going on and helped pull the guy out of the house," Wyatt told NewsOK.
