Mystery $75,000 Lottery 'Winner' Turns Out To Be Fake

A Palmdale gas station made a huge mistake when they gave a lottery winner $75 instead of $75,000. Turns out, nobody is a winner.

In an effort to identify the mystery man who was thought to have won $75,000, the Palmdale gas station released surveillance of the customer cashing in his lottery stub.

The story went viral in hopes that the winner would identify himself.

But KTLA 5 reports that the surveillance footage actually shows a California Lottery undercover investigator on an inspection stop, according to Russel Lopez, a spokesman for the lottery.

"There is no 'winner.' "

Chevron station manager Shamsun Islam urges everyone to fill out the contact information on their stub.
