NASCAR champion Mike Wallace was assaulted by three men after leaving a Rascal Flatts concert with his wife and daughter at the PNC Amphitheater in Charlotte, North Carolina.
57-year-old Wallace received several kicks to the face, which caused his daughter, Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerdenon, to throw herself on top of him to try and block the blows, resulting in her being kicked in the ribs as well.
The men were all arrested but let out on bond. Paul Lucas, 29, is charged with assault on a female, and Nathan Lucas, 22, and Randolph Mangum, 24, face charges for simple assault. They are due in Mecklenburg County District Court on July 22.
According to Mike Wallace’s brother Kenny, the veteran received 12 stitches inside his mouth.
Kenny wrote on his Facebook page: "I am tore up and sick to my stomach about my brother Mike and his daughter Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden and everyone involved in this senseless ass beating after a concert in Charlotte NC on Friday night. My brother Mike laid on the ground knocked out and it was NOT even a fight and three men kept kicking my knocked out brother in the face. Think about it? .. My brother was knocked out and they were kicking him in the face... I AM SO F***ING MAD!!"
He also tweeted out his anguish over the deplorable events.
The number ONE question I get from the @NASCAR world is "What did Mike do?". Sad part is Mike did nothing. It was a GOON attack.— Kenny Wallace (@Kenny_Wallace) June 19, 2016
I've talked to Mike this morning. He is down in the dumps. Beat up badly and can't see out of one eye. I WILL MAKE SURE THIS MAKES NEWS!!!!— Kenny Wallace (@Kenny_Wallace) June 19, 2016
