After receiving backlash over its controversial front pages, which slammed Republicans and the National Rifle Association last week, the New York publication responded to its critics with pictures of adorable puppies, kittens and a polar bear with a cone stuck on its head.
“To all those who have been offended by hearing the truth about our nation's gun scourge & the NRA & cowardly pols who think nothing's wrong,” the latest cover proclaimed, blaring the headline “Everything is awesome!”
Interestingly, the bottom of the page also cheekily mentions President Barack Obama’s rare Oval Office address, where he talked about the need for stricter gun control in the United States and ending terrorism.
Last week, the day after the deadly attack that left 14 dead, the publication’s front page featured tweets from Republican politicians announcing their "thoughts and prayers" for San Bernardino victims, along with the headline "God isn't fixing this.”
The next day, the NY Daily News nailed it again with shifting the attention to San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook. The provocative Friday cover branded the shooter, along with Newtown shooter Adam Lanza, Aurora movie theater shooter James Holmes and the NRA’s Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, with one simple, powerful word: terrorist.
