The bridge collapse in Washington was not an ordinary mishap. Part of a four-lane freeway bridge collapsed sending vehicles and people into the frigid water below.
Miraculously no lives were lost.
The video show a collapse victim recounting his experience as his car slided into the river below.
"At that point, the wide load caught the right side of the bridge. There was a loud boom, big puff of dust that appeared. The truck somehow made it across that span, as we locked up the breaks, and went right off the edge of the bridge, into the Skagit River with the whole section,” he said.
The bridgeis all but destroyed. Transportation authorities are re-routing traffic along the interstate road which acts as the main thoroughfare between Seattle and Vancouver, Canada.
Authorities say bridge was repaired twice last year.
The exact cause of the collapse is still being investigated.
