Kim Jong-un Is Back And Very Much Alive, Thank You

“The Outstanding Leader” has apparently reappeared after a lengthy public absence.

After an absence as mysterious as North Korea itself,  Kim Jong-un made his first public appearance this week after almost two months.

The 31-year-old dictator had not appeared in public since attending a concert with his wife on Sept. 3 and prompted widespread speculation regarding a coup in the Hermit Kingdom after he missed an important political anniversary on Oct. 10.

However, Kim put all rumors to rest after several photos on the website of North Korea's Rodong Sinmun newspaper showed him, smiling and walking around with his officials reportedly on a visit to a housing development.

He was, though, using a cane for support which suggests the reports about his alleged ankle surgery – from, some say, a fetish for cheese and resulting gout – might be true after all.

Here’s the front page of the Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

While no details were mentioned about the visit, as to when it happened, nor did it address the leader's health, the Associated Press quoted the official Korean Central News Agency that Kim vowed to take the "necessary steps with loving care" to turn the area into a "world class science city.”
