Obama Delivers Heartfelt Eulogy for Beau Biden

President Obama gave an emotional tribute to Beau Biden’s legacy at his funeral.



Joseph “Beau” Biden III, son of Vice President Joe Biden, died of brain cancer earlier this week, after aggressive treatment. His passing is a loss for all of us, and President Obama gave an emotional tribute to his memory in his eulogy on Saturday.



The service was held in Delaware, where Biden served as the former attorney general of Delaware and a member of the state's Army National Guard. Obama spoke on Biden’s public service, admiration of his father, and love for his family.

"Beau Biden was an original," Obama said. "He was a good man, a man of character, a man who loved deeply and was loved in return."



The crowd at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church included Bill and Hillary Clinton, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other members of congress, according to HuffPost PoliticsAfter hearing Biden was a fan of his music, Coldplay singer Chris Martin volunteered to sing at the service. Biden's siblings, Ashley and Hunter, also eulogized Biden.

Beau is survived by his wife, Hallie and his two children, Natalie and Hunter, who will undoubtedly carry on his legacy.
