After Shah Rukh Khan got into trouble with security in India, he is gaining a lot of sympathy from people, ministers and even extremists from across the border in Pakistan.
It has been almost a month now that Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood cinema had been stripped of his security personnel which included around eight constables from the Mumbai Police Station and Security branch. The possible reasons given for the removal of security were that he no longer faced any death threats from terrorist organizations and the actor’s frequent brawls with policemen and security guards.
There are many speculations being made regarding the removal of Khan’s security one of them often being cited is that the Indian Government is mistreating him for being a Muslim.
Following the event, Hafiz Saeed, who is the founder of a terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba, invited Shah Rukh Khan aka King Khan to live in Pakistan if his security was being compromised in India. This statement caused a stir in the international media and politics since Hafiz Saeed is on the list of India’s most wanted terrorists. The statement was in fact an irony in itself since help was being offered by a person who is a leader of a militant organization that kills people.
A few days after Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, jumped on the bandwagon and expressed his sympathy with King Khan suggesting that the Indian Government ought to provide security to Shah Rukh Khan. This statement would again be considered ironic especially by Pakistanis who haven’t been provided any sort of security in their own country by their own ministers, Malik being one of them. People think that it is certainly not appropriate for a minister to meddle in other government’s affairs when he has failed his own people in his country.
Shiv Sena, an influential political party of India responded to Malik’s statement by saying that he should not interfere with their country’s politics and must leave the decision to provide security to Shah Rukh Khan to them.
We are capable of looking at the security of our own citizens. Let him (Rehman Malik) worry about his own: Indian Home Secy R K Singh— Rezaul Hasan Laskar (@Rezhasan) January 29, 2013
There have been many instances in which people have refused to come to Pakistan especially international cricket teams. Ever since the Sri Lankan team was attacked by terrorists in Pakistan in 2009, many celebrities and players have refused to visit the country, the Bangladesh Cricket team being the most recent example of it.
