Protesting Paraguayan bus drivers have nailed themselves to crosses in a gruesome demand to have their jobs reinstated.

The eight drivers, plus one of their wives, have been crucified by having their arms outstretched and nails driven through their palms and into wooden boards in the shape of crosses laid out on the ground.

The men were fired from their bus driving jobs 36 days ago and some of them have been nailed to these crosses for more than 21 days already.

The drivers say they lost their jobs because they wanted better pay and improved working conditions.
