Tony Nicklinson sobbed in his wheelchair after losing a High Court fight for the legal right to end his life.

Confined to a wheelchair, 58-year-old Tony Nicklinson found out via a computer message that he'd lost his bid to kill himself with a doctor's help. He has "Locked In" syndrome and has been paralyzed since suffering a stroke seven years ago. While mentally sound, Tony is paralyzed from the neck down and is unable to speak and communicate in any way.

He appealed for assisted death to avoid what he calls, ‘a life of increasing indignity and misery’. He has been battling for two years to persuade High Court judges to grant him the right to die if, and when, he decides he wants to.

The couple says they plan to appeal the British high court's ruling.
