Russians Push Their Plane Like It’s No Big Deal

These guys sure know how to get things moving. At Igarka Airport in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, passengers had no other choice but to push the plane themselves after it froze solid to the runway.

Why did this happen? Well, temperatures had dropped to a crazy low of -52 C. The aircraft was carrying oil and it reportedly leaked, froze and immobilized the plane’s brakes.

The Siberian Times reports that Vladimir Artemenko, who works for the Russian airline Katekavia, said that “when people pushed the plane, the wheel cranked out, and then the aircraft could continue to move.”

The little snippets of Russian heard in the video include: “Come on, push!” “Real men can plant a tree, build a house and push a plane.” And lastly, “We just want to get back home.”
