Pat Robertson thinks that a wife should be grateful if her cheating husband is providing her food, home and other necessities of life. The cheating is justified because men have a tendency to ‘wander off’ easily and therefore it all comes down to the woman, the wife.
He said this while answering one of the questions from his viewers on his show. The troubled wife asked: “I've been trying to forgive my husband for cheating on me. We have gone to counseling, but I just can't seem to forgive, nor can I trust. How do you let go of the anger? How do you trust again?”
Robertson replied: “Stop talking the cheating. He cheated on you, well, he is a man.”
“Does he provide a home for you to live in? Does he provide food for you to eat? Does he provide clothes for you to wear? Is he nice to the children? Is he handsome?”
He also told the wife to make the room ‘enticing’ enough for the man to stay.
One wonders whether a man who wanders off easily is worth having or not. Also, Pat Robertson failed to shed some light on the agony the viewer must have been experiencing. In fact, it was the main reason why she wrote to the televangelist.
But then again, Pat Robertson is (in) famous for his unusual views about unusual stuff. He once said that demons can attach to your clothes, rings. In 2012, he said that prayer could have stopped Midwest tornadoes. These statements speak for themselves and for the man who uttered them (on television).
You can watch Robertson’s reply to the troubled wife in the video above.
