Paul Walker of the Fast & Furious franchise passed away Saturday, November 30 in a single-car accident.
Authorities reported that the actor was driving back to Los Angeles from a charity car show for Philippines typhoon relief when the accident took place.
Variety confirmed, through a source close to the actor, that the accident took place around 3:30PM Pacific Time in Santa Clarita, CA. Both Walker and a currently unidentified passenger were confirmed dead at the scene.
Walker’s rep later confirmed this with the following post on the actor’s official Facebook page:
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. - #TeamPW."
Rising to fame with films such as Varsity Blues and She’s All That, Walker is perhaps best known for his role as Brian O’Connor in the Fast & Furious franchise. With the latest installment, Fast & Furious 6 released this past summer, fans were eagerly awaiting the details to Fast & Furious 7, which was announced for a 2014 release.
Walker leaves behind his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, who had moved from Hawaii in the last year to live with him.
