Kabang the hero dog from the Philippines is back in her hometown of Zamboanga City, welcomed by the mayor and a motorcade with yellow balloons.

Kabang has earned world-wide recognition after losing half her face while saving two girls from getting hit by a motorcycle. Thousands world-wide sent in donations so she could be brought to the U.S. for surgery.

Twelve-year-old Dina Bunggal is one of the girls Kabang saved. Her family found Kabang in a swampy area when she was still a puppy.

"Kabang is a unique dog. Without her, perhaps I wouldn't be alive now. I'm really grateful to her."

As the mixed breed returns to life as a normal pet, her vet is concerned that her living conditions may not be ideal. She used to sleep on the doorstep of her owner's home.

It's a shanty and her owner, Rudy, earns less than 5 dollars a day as a construction worker. He also has a drinking problem.

Donors have ensured a lifetime's supply of medicines and food for Kabang. Now Rudy is under some pressure to make sure she stays safe and well.
