On Wednesday Hamas’ military chief, Ahmed Jabari was killed by a drone attack from Israel. The attack also saw Jabari’s bodyguard killed – the video of the attack was later released. The attack sparked a fierce clash and cross border fighting which has since then continued.

Gaza has an estimated 35,000 Palestinian fighters, no match for Israel's F-16 fighter-bombers, Apache helicopter gunships, Merkava tanks and other modern weapons systems in the hands of a conscript force of 175,000, with 450,000 in reserve.

Here are some of the images from Israel’s attack on Gaza.
