Pets stranded by Hurricane Sandy are returned to their owners or taken to safe shelters. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals tracks down the stranded pets and tries finding their owners. Many had to fend for themselves so far but relief is on the way now.
The ASPCA regularly conducts rescue operations following natural disasters. They are using trailers to help provide checkups for pets.
The teams expect to continue search-and-rescue missions for the remainder of the Hurricane Sandy recovery period.
