Reza Aslan Talks To Piers Morgan About Fox News Interview: I Was Kind Of Embarrassed (VIDEO)

In his first television appearance after the painfully awkward Fox News interview with Lauren Green, Reza Aslan told Piers Morgan that defending himself on the conservative news channel was quite an ‘embarrassing’ experience.

Green during the entire interview just couldn’t get over the fact that a Muslim could write a book about Christianity. Aslan, a professor at the University of California was on Fox News to discuss his book, “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth,” had to repeat at least twice that he holds four degrees, one in the New Testament, is fluent in biblical Greek, and has been studying the Bible for two decades, and the fact that he was a Muslim just doesn’t come in to it.

It has been described the single most cringe-worthy, embarrassing interview on Fox News.

Aslan discussed his ‘ordeal’ with Green on CNN and told Piers Morgan, “I was kind of embarrassed. There’s nothing more distasteful than an academic having to trot out his credentials. You really come off as a jerk when you do that. It was very hard not to keep mentioning that I'm actually qualified to write this book, so let's talk about the book instead.”

Following that, Aslan gave a brief description of what his book was all about. He said, “The book is a historical biography of a man named Jesus of Nazareth. It tries to sort of separate him from the Christology that arose around him in the generations that followed.”
