COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Mitt Romney went after President Obama during a campaign stop here, likening Obama’s promises to the wedding vows of reality TV star Kim Kardashian, the Hill reports.
“I’ve been looking at some video clips on YouTube of President Obama, then candidate Obama, going through Iowa making promises,” he said. “I think the gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I’ve seen, well, since the Kardashian wedding and the promise of ‘til death do we part.”
Romney got the response he wanted, much laughter from a crowd who favors him. He was with his wife, Ann and son Craig.
The large suburb has business owners and many focused on the economy, just the type of voters likely to pick Romney in 48 hours when the Iowa caucuses take place. This stronghold gave Romney one of the strongest margins of victory he had in the state in 2008, the Hill reports.
Romney again appealed to the crowd, promising to eliminate government waste, singling out subsidies for Amtrak and PBS as examples. “Big Bird, get ready to see some advertisers,” he said.
Romney also zapped Obama for failing to work with Republicans. He promised to repeal “Obamacare,” and attacked China as a currency manipulator, chiding the President for failing to do more.
