A six year old girl was the only survivor in her class of 16 students. She survived by playing dead.

An unnamed six year old girl escaped the wrath of Adam Lanza when he opened fire on her Sandy Hook Elementary classroom in Newtown CT by playing dead.

A six-year-old girl was the sole survivor in her first grade class at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT because she played dead as shooter Adam Lanza went on his rampage.

According to Pastor Jim Solomon, who is close to the unnamed girl's family, she lay among the bodies of her 15 classmates, eyes and mouth clamped shut, until it was safe to leave.

Solomon told ABC News: "She ran out of the school building covered from head to toe with blood and the first thing she said to her mom was, 'Mommy, I'm OK but all my friends are dead."

Solomon said that the girl and her family are doing "as well as you can expect them to do" and while they are relieved to have their daughter home they feel some survivor’s guilt because many of their friends lost children at the Sandy Hook shooting.
