The rift between the two began after the millionaire businessman accused his ex-fiancée of stealing millions of dollars worth of jewelry from his safe.

A Florida businessman has released video of his former fiancée beating herself amid her claims that he abused her.

The high-profile legal battle garnered attention in February when Scott Mitchell, CEO of Simply Organic Beauty, sued Mary Hunt, alleging she along with her parents stole $2.1 million worth of jewelry, including 99 three-diamond necklaces, 147 gold rings and 172 loose diamonds, from his home safe.

In response, Hunt accused the millionaire of setting her up. She also claimed he physically abused her, giving her black eyes and bruises.

In June, while speaking FOX 13, an emotional Hunt described her alleged ordeal with Mitchell: "There were so many times when I wanted to give up, but I couldn't do it anymore and I think about how much he would have wanted this.”

However, Todd Foster, Mitchell’s attorney, claims the new surveillance footage serves as proof that Hunt’s abuse was self-inflicted.

“There is no evidence that he ever beat her,” Foster stated. “This video now demonstrates that she is striking herself in the same area of the face and head that they allege Scott struck her.”

Mitchell was in a relationship with Mary Hunt for two years until they broke up last summer.
