See Ted Cruz Mercilessly Inform A Worried Woman He Will Deport Her

During a campaign event in Iowa, Ted Cruz callously told a woman who arrived here as a child that he would deport her during his presidency.

If there’s one thing you can say about Ted Cruz, it’s that he demonstrates an almost impressive lack of complexity in his views. Everything is black and white—the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. He wants to carpet bomb ISIS (who cares about civilians!). He opposes abortion, including in instances of rape or incest. He believes in the complete deportation of immigrants who have arrived here illegally, including their children.

He’s also quite happy to heartlessly express these views.

Ofelia Valdez told Cruz at a campaign event on Wednesday in Storm Lake, Iowa that while her parents had brought her to the U.S. illegally, Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program allows her to stay here legally. Her voice is nervous and unsure in the video as she asks Cruz under his presidency, “what’s gonna happen to people like us? I think of myself as a part of this community and, you know, first day in presidency you decide to deport, you know, people like myself—it’s just very difficult to process it.”

Compassion and empathy do not appear to be in Cruz’s vocabulary, so he callously informed her that it does not matter that she was brought to America as a child, under circumstances in which she had no say. For Cruz, the law is the law—“one of the problems with our broken immigration system is that it is creating human tragedies and there are human tragedies when people break the law…there are consequences for breaking the laws.”

The only human tragedy here is Cruz’s utter lack of humanity.
