"This was definitely the most powerful thunderstorm Ive seen this Summer so far. The lightning was frequent and powerful in nature and the thunder was, well you can hear it in the video. I captured quite a few cracklers, including one vicious blast of thunder (you can barely see the electromagnetic pulse on the camera with that lightning around 5:31). You can also here the rain in the background. Flooding and power outages were reported all about. The South Shore and the West Island got hit pretty hard. All the dynamics were there: Huge amounts of CAPE, plenty of moisture/humidity, and the Sun made an appearance in the late afternoon, which really boosted instability. The storm advanced into the West Island of Montreal from the SW around 9:05 EDT, but could be seen perhaps as early as 8:50 P.M. in the distance."
