He may look like a 12-year-old boy, but the truth is that Shin Hyomyung is actually 26.

Shin Hyomyung, locally known as the real-life Peter Pan from South Korea, suffers from a rare condition called the Highlander Syndrome, which affects his body’s physical ability to age.

He was recently featured in a television documentary in which he was first shown dancing in his pajamas at his home. Later, Shin underwent a makeover as he prepared to go out on a date in a cafe with a young woman, who was shocked to know about his true age.

During the show, Shin revealed that he developed normally as a kid until he entered his teenage years. He added that he had not even gone through puberty despite being a 26-year-old man.

While talking about his wish to have a girlfriend, Shin told the documentary crew that he is a big fan of Scarlett Johansson and hopes to meet her someday. He even has a huge pin-up poster of the Hollywood actress in his bedroom.

Not much is known about Shin’s disorder since the syndrome is not an officially recognized medical term, according to pop culture website Koreaboo. However, similar cases have been reported in news previously.

In 2013, the case of Gabby Williams emerged from Billings, Montana. She was then an 8-year-old, but weighed only 11 pounds. Nicky Freeman from Esperance, Western Australia, looks like a 10-year-old despite being 40.
