Shoppers riot

To most people, $180 is a lot of money for a pair of shoes. When they’re Air Jordans, though, money is no object – and people aren’t either, apparently.

That’s our conclusion after watching this disgusting video of a riot started by shoppers in an Indianapolis mall early Friday trying to get a pair of Michael Jordan’s newest shoes.

Several people are trampled as hundreds rush through the doors of the mall being opened at 7 a.m. – one of the doors is even ripped off its hinges from the crazed stampede flowing in. The product they were feasting over? The Air Jordan Retro 11 shoes, which are actually a re-release.

While the people who ran, pushed and walked over other shoppers are obviously the guiltiest parties here, a lot of blame also needs to be directed at Nike and the Jordan Brand who not only dropped the shoes two days before Christmas – but also did so by only releasing 100 pairs to certain stores.

The people in the video are absolutely pathetic, though. Some leave their old shoes and clothes behind just to get the Air Jordans, but can’t stop to help others who are being trampled and stepped on. The lady interviewed near the beginning of the clip is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the country. She has no remorse for jumping over fallen people in the riot, and actually seems proud of herself. Merry Christmas Indianapolis.
