A suicide bomber rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into a police station in northwest Pakistan on Monday, killing 19 people and injuring at least 46, according to officials and local news media. Among the dead were nine police officers, eight civilians and two children, according to local and provincial authorities, New York Times reports. Police official Ghulam Mohammad Khan says rescue workers and police officials are digging through the rubble at the station in the town of Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to The Associated Press. The police station in a busy shopping area of the town, not far from the tribal belt which is a stronghold of the Taliban, suffered heavy damages. An adjacent school and several government buildings nearby were also damaged. The injured were shifted to the nearby city hospital, whose northern wing is also reported to have been damaged in the blast. Confirming the deaths of eight people and injuries to several others, a police official said a final assessment could be made only after the debris were removed,
