Apparently, Syrian President Bashar al Assad has joined Instagram. This is quite a surprising development for many since his country is almost on the verge of a proxy war.
According to UN reports at least 100,000 people have been killed in the Syrian conflict mainly between Sunni Muslim rebels and President Bashar al Assad's Alawite supporters, whose minority sect is a branch of Shi'ite Islam. It started with peaceful protests against Assad's rule in March 2011 but gradually spiraled into a civil war after a military crackdown on the demonstrations. Nearly two million refugees have fled the country as of yet.
Let’s see what Assad has been uploading on his Instagram account:
Photos of Assad’s wife, Asma al-Assad, meeting with the elderly and Syrian children are also on his Instagram account
Here he can be seen meeting with local religious leaders.
