Thai Troops Fire On 'Red Shirt' Protesters In Bangkok

Thai troops fired on demonstrators Friday in a bid to clear the streets of anti-government protesters and end a two-month siege, leaving at least two people dead and 45 wounded during a 24-hour period as parts of the capital's business district were turned into a virtual war zone.Among the injured were two Thai journalists and a Canadian reporter, who has been hospitalized in serious condition. Local television networks also reported that several grenades struck a shopping center and municipal rail station in the upscale shopping area.
