People are coming out in droves in support of gay marriage, as the Supreme Court debates Prop 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act. And they're bringing clever signs. No one topped the drama of this pro-marriage equality message projected onto the Supreme Court itself:
Security seems concerned about this. What other gay marriage advocates lacked in drama, they made up for in cleverness. For starters, the legend of Antoine Dodson lives on:
One guy pointed out that it can be hard to make the case that gay marriage is bad for straight people...and if it isn't, what are we arguing about? (Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan made a similar point yesterday.)
And others pointed out that, if you are going to go the religious route in arguing against same-sex marriage, you might want to check your main source first:
Others took the whole Jesus thing a step further:
Okay, I was wrong about the projection on the Supreme Court building being the most dramatic sign for gay marriage. Someone pointed out that while Antonin Scalia makes gross jokes about Strom Thurmond, gay kids are getting bullied, beaten and sometimes killed (they pointed out the second thing, not the first thing):
One woman delivered a very simple and touching message. Sometimes being straightforward hits better than anything:
This one hit home, because it was literally what I was doing last night. And, yes, it is one of those weird tedious joys that everyone should get to experience:
If you don't get this one, you should go watch the Princess Bride immediately.
This one doesn't have a clever sign, but there was quite an impressive showing at a pro gay marriage rally in San Francisco.
And finally, you didn't think you were getting out of this one without a little grumpy cat, did you? Here he is, grumpily for equality:
Seen any good signs? The kind people hold up that is. Post the link in the comments.
