Rep. Joyce Beatty donned a dress bearing striking semblance to that of Melania Trump, but she feigned innocence when asked to comment on the similarity.

The games that the Republicans and Democrats played against each other at their respective conventions were seemingly never-ending, but on Thursday night Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) topped them all.

On the last night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Beatty gave a powerful anti-Trump speech and endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president.

In a hilarious twist on Melania Trump’s blatant plagiarism of First Lady Michelle Obama's 2008 speech, Beatty chose to wear a similar dress to what Trump’s wife wore during her Republican National Convention speech earlier this month.

The funniest aspect of this minor scandal is that Beatty acted entirely innocent to having worn the same dress, as if she didn’t realize her faux pas. In an interview, she said that her husband Otto, also a seasoned politician, suggested she wear it.

Watch Beatty’s interview with WCMH below in which she explains her sartorial choice.
