Well, here is some free and frank advice for all Republican candidates: stop talking about rape! Even when a reporter tries to bait you with some question either related to rape or abortion just remain silent. That will definitely do some good, for all of them.
In an attempt to distance himself from the comments made by GOP Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin last week when he said that “women having the magical ability to biologically end a pregnancy if the child is the product of "legitimate rape,"Pennsylvania Senate Candidate from Republican party, Tom Smith sparked a further controversy by comparing pregnancy caused by rape to "having a baby out of wedlock."
Smith said that although he condemns Todd’s comments, he does agree with him on the point that abortions must be banned without any exceptions, including for victims of rape and incest. Asked how he would feel if his daughter or granddaughter bore a child produced by rape, Smith said that he had experienced a similar situation when a member of his family had a baby out of wedlock.
"Put yourself in a father's position, yes, I mean it is similar," he said.
Smith, who is challenging incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Casey in the upcoming elections, will have to bear with some political trouble because of his comments that make pre-marital sex an act as evil as rape.
The comments quite clearly show that Todd Akins was not the only one who missed his science class, Smith proudly accompanied him.
