Instagram picture of skate legend Hawk swinging his daughter Kadence Clover, 4, in the air by her arms as he mounted the side of a concrete bowl, was welcomed with criticism by the social media.
44-year-old while along with the photo on Instagram commented: "Updated frontside fling photo courtesy of @msk8blake. She is learning to skate on her own, so we might not be doing this much longer."
This did not sit well with some of his followers on Instagram as Hawk is clearly seen dangling her by the arms, as he skates while she’s obviously not wearing a helmet. The picture immediately drew some criticism.
One follower posted, "Crash, split, blood! Put a helmet on her, moron!"
@bigg_oscarwrote: "Helmets? Who needs helmets? Accidents NEVER happen and superstars never fall down. It's a one in a million hot if she falls and cracks her skull. Nothing a little duct tape won't hold together. #helmetsafety."
Skateboarding legend who owns a 5,000 sq ft concrete skate park in his backyard was quick to respond to Instagram users who questioned his somewhat unorthodox parenting by posting another picture of his helmet-free ride with his daughter, writing, "For those that say I endanger my child: it's more likely that you will fall while walking on the sidewalk than I will while skating with my daughter."
Apart from the seriousness of the debate among users and Hawk, majority of the comments on Hawk’s Instagram account were positive.
ssimhero504Haters gonna hate...keep skatin'
This isn't the first time Hawk has posted unusual pictures of his kids. Earlier this month he posted an image of young Kadence duct tapped to a wall.
Tony Hawk makes a fair point on Instagram that he might be the only dad who can pull off this trick but this is not setting a good example for others. Hawk knows that he has great influence on his fans and obviously would not feel good if this inspires someone to try this with their young ones, and it ends in disaster!
