Donald Trump and Mexico's President, Enrique Pena Nieto, got into a Twitter war on Thursday about the payment of the possible wall on the border.

Donald Trump failed to mention who will pay for the wall along the United States and Mexico border during his meeting on Wednesday with Mexico’s president, but he is now voicing his view loud and clear on social media.

Trump apparently wasn’t brave enough to discuss which country would pay for the wall during his recent trip to Mexico.

After his meeting, Trump spoke at a campaign rally in Phoenix, Arizona and informed his supporters that he wants Mexico to pay for the wall, and he reiterated his point again on Twitter, Vox reports.

Trump later defended himself to reporters and said that the wall was one of the topics of conversation between him and Mexico's president, according to NBC News

"We did discuss the wall; we didn't discuss the payment of the wall, Trump said. "That will be for a later date."

President Enrique Peña Nieto received backlash for not standing up to Trump about the payment of the wall. He responded to Trump on Twitter by saying, “Repeating what I told you in person, Mexico will never pay for a wall.”

Back in the United States, Trump’s bold pivot to passionately declare Mexico will pay for the wall (yet cowardly avoid the subject during his Mexico trip) clearly demonstrates that his allegiance lies with appeasing white male voters.
