Donald Trump's Big Foreign Policy Speech Was Chock-Full Of Lies

It seems like Trump really needs to get his facts straight before he comes out in front of the world and makes claims that cannot be justified.

Donald Trump is known for his lies, bigotry, manipulation of statements and repeated accounts of self-praise.

His presidential campaign has been a ride full of ups and downs where he himself has made statements and then refuted them. In other instances, the business mogul has also shown a clear lack of knowledge while speaking about countries around the world.

On June 13, following the fateful Orlando gay club shooting massacre that left 49 dead and many wounded, Trump made an anti-Islam, anti-Hillary Clinton speech. However, unfortunately, he made numerous false claims regarding refugees, Clinton’s stance on guns and even the Orlando gunman’s identity.

Here are a few instances during his speech, where Trump had no idea what he was saying:

1. “We're not screening people. So why don't we have an effective screening system? We don't. We're being laughed at all over the world. The burden is on Hillary Clinton to tell us why we should admit anyone into our country who supports violence of any kind against gay and lesbian Americans.”

Trump’s statement is certainly not true. There is a rigorous screening process for anyone who enters the United States of America, and refugees, especially, have to go through numerous background checks before they are let into the country.

2. “Altogether under the Clinton plan, you'd be admitting hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East with no system to prevent radicalization of the children and their children.”

Once again, this statement is not true. Clinton had only called for an increase in the number of Syrian refugees let into the country, which is currently at 65,000. The number is clearly nowhere close to “hundreds of thousands of refugees.”

3. “She wants to take away Americans’ guns and then admit the very people who want to slaughter us. Let them come into the country. We don't have guns. She wants to take away Americans' guns and then admit the very people who want to slaughter us. Let them come into the country. We don't have guns. Let them come in, let them have all the fun they want.”

The fact remains that Clinton has not called for a ban on guns, but instead wanted to ban assault weapons. "We’ve got to keep weapons of war off our streets, as well as blocking suspected terrorists from buying guns," she said.

4. “The killer, whose name I will not use or ever say, was born in Afghan, of Afghan parents, who immigrated to the United States.”

Omar Mateen, the gunman behind the Orlando shooting, was actually born in New York and raised in Florida — certainly not in Afghanistan (or "Afghan," as Trump seems to think the country is called.)

Trump truly lives up to his experience as a reality TV host, and unfortunately fails to realize that politics and a TV show are two very different things to which the same tactics cannot be applied.
