Trump Brags That He's 'Smart' For Not Paying Taxes

During the first debate Clinton said, "Maybe he’s not as rich as he says he is,” regarding the unknown variables keeping Trump from releasing his taxes.

From the beginning of the presidential debate held at Hoftsra University in New York, GOP candidate Donald Trump tried to cover up his lies and shortcomings. But, his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton wouldn't let this happen.

After the very first question about the economy from debate moderator Lester Holt, the former secretary of state presented a laundry list of policies to create jobs and raise wages, while her rival answered with an attack on free trade and a plan-less promise to defend American workers.

During this segment, Trump avidly resisted admitting the true reasons he won’t release his tax returns.

Clinton ventured several guesses as to why he isn’t making his tax returns public, including the fact that he probably didn’t want the American public to know that he hadn’t paid federal income taxes in several years.

When he later suggested the U.S. had become a Third World country, Clinton quipped, “Maybe that’s because you don’t pay any federal income tax.” Instead of rushing to deny this marked dissent, Trump arrogantly retorted, "That makes me smart."

Whereas most white collar criminals spend time in jail for evading taxes, Trump seems to be in the clear for his unpatriotic move. Moreover, he ironically offended the millions of tax-paying Americans which he promises to defend.
