Trump Told MSNBC In 2013: 'I Have A Relationship' With Putin

Well, does Trump know Putin or doesn’t he? The megalomaniac can’t keep his words straight as suspicions rise regarding his ties with the Russian leader.

Another day, another lie. It seems this remains the case for Donald Trump, who is taking an arrested American public on a journey down his deranged thought process.

Trump has been caught twisting his words so many times that it hardly comes as a surprise when he is lying through his teeth, as MSNBC reported Wednesday.

After the presidential nominee suggested that Russian hackers “find the 30,000 emails that are missing” from the Democratic National Convention earlier this week, he quickly retracted the statement as sarcasm when the media began to speculate that he committed a felony for these particular comments.

In a press conference Trump gave in Florida on Wednesday, he decried that he has no connection with the Russian president.

He explained, “I never met Putin, I don’t know who Putin is. He said one nice thing about me. He said I’m a genius. I said ‘thank you very much’ to the newspaper and that was the end of it. I never met Putin.”

At another point in the conference, Trump reiterated that he doesn’t know Putin, saying that “I’ve never spoken to him. I don’t know anything about him other than he will respect me.”

Later that day, MSNBC showed evidence that yes, Trump was probably lying—again.

The channel aired a segment which showed that Trump had previously stated he does in fact know Vladimir Putin.

In an exclusive interview with the channel’s Thomas Roberts in Moscow in 2013, Trump said, “I do have a relationship [with him], and I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today. He’s probably very interested in what you and I are saying today and I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form. But I do have a relationship with him and I think it’s very interesting to see what’s happened.”

Not only did Trump tell Roberts that he knows Putin, but he also alluded to the notion that Putin is keeping tabs on what he does.

Below is Thursday’s MSNBC segment which re-broadcasts the 2013 interview:
