Woman Jumps Off Cruise Ship After Losing 'Twerk-Off'

A little friendly competition is usually not a bad thing, unless it provokes you to jump off a ship.

A woman who is currently missing at sea is believed to have jumped overboard a cruise ship after losing a dance contest.

Kaylyn Rose Sommer, 24, was onboard the Mad Decent Boat Party, a four day cruise and dance party event headlined by Electronic Dance Music artists Skrillex and Diplo.

“A female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing in the Yucatan Channel,” the cruise company reportedly said in a statement. “The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities.”

The U.S. reportedly sent out the Coast Guard, a rescue plane and patrol boat to find Sommer — but there has been no sign of her.

Graham Hansen, an acquaintance of Sommer who claims he spoke to their mutual friend who was also onboard the cruise, reportedly told NBC 6 that the incident happened after she was devastated from losing a dance battle.

“She and some other girl who was calling herself the twerk queen were having a twerk-off, “ Hansen reportedly told NBC 6 by phone. “Twerk queen started twerking on her (the missing woman’s) boyfriend, and it caused some sort of issue between the two of them.”

It's bad enough to be losing a battle publicly, but then for your opponent to go after your significant other? That is, indeed, humiliating ... but there must be more to the story to make her intentionally jump off of an entire ship.

The cruise, which set sail on Wednesday (Nov.11) from Miami and was headed to Cozumel, Mexico has been halted as the search for Sommer continues.

People will definitely go through great lengths to protect their pride, even if it means jeopardizing their lives...
