A news helicopter crashed in Seattle, close to the space needle, killing both passengers and critically injuring one person on the ground. Reports suggest that the helicopter was attempting to land on top of a news building, but for some reason it failed to do so and plummeted to the ground.

The impact of the helicopter crash caused several cars to catch fire. At least two of the cars had people in them. One woman escaped unharmed, while the other left a man badly burned.

The crash occurred at 7:40a.m., before the Space Needle opened, but well into Seattle's busy commuting hours.
