Ted Nugent threatened Barack Obama at an NRA convention (above). Now he's going to the State of the Union.
They have airport-style security scanners at the State of the Union, right? I ask because President Obama will have an unlikely guest for his annual speech: right-wing mad man Ted Nugent. No, Obama is not extending an offer to the psycho wing of the Republican party, the psycho wing is bringing one of its own. Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas, known for trolling the media by saying that Obama should be impeached over attempting a few modest gun reforms, is bringing Ted Nugent as his guest. Stockman "explained" this by saying that, as a crazy person himself, he doesn't think Nugent is crazy:
"I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama," Stockman said in a press release. "After the Address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”
Nugent is like Stockman but without any kind of filter. Stockman says things like: "The President’s actions are an existential threat to this nation.” Nugent says things like: "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."
Nugent is neither dead nor in jail. He is going to the State of the Union. In the same breath as the above quote, he had a little more to say:
He called the Obama administration “vile, evil” and “America-hating.”
“Our president, attorney general, our vice president, Hillary Clinton — they’re criminals, they’re criminals…We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November.”
So, secret service, strip search Nugent and Stockman too while you're at it. I wouldn't trust Nugent in the same city as Obama, let alone the same room. I'll be watching the State of the Union concerned about more than just whether Obama is bold enough on climate change.
