US Afghanistan Death Toll Passes 1,000

A Taliban suicide bomber detonated a carload of explosives in Kabul, killing at least 19 people including six Nato troops, in the city’s worst day of carnage this year.The powerful blast wrecked five vehicles in a Nato convoy as it passed along one of the city’s main roads. According to The New York Times, it took seven years for the first 500 US soldiers to be killed in Afghanistan, with the second 500 coming in fewer than two.In two separate incidents, two more Nato soldiers were killed, bringing the total number to die in the country in less than 24 hours to eight.
