You have to be a special kind of idiot to trump Donald Trump at his own game, making bizarre political statements. And that's exactly what the crazy billionaire's fellow Republican Dr. Ben Carson has managed to do.
Maybe he was stunned by the larger-than-anticipated crowd at his Phoenix rally. Or maybe it was the presence of Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose crazy solutions to stopping illegal immigration might have rubbed off on Carson.
Whatever the cause, Carson openly floated the idea of using drone strikes at the border to help control migrants, KTVK-TV Phoenix's Dennis Welch reported.
BREAKING: GOP Presidential candidate Ben Carson open to using military drone strikes on American soil to secure the border.— Dennis Welch (@dennis_welch) August 19, 2015
Ben Carson when asked about drone to secure the border: "I'm suggesting we do what we need to do to secure the border whatever that is."— Dennis Welch (@dennis_welch) August 19, 2015
More from @RealBenCarson on border issues: "You look at some of these caves and things out there one drone strike, boom, and they'd gone."— Dennis Welch (@dennis_welch) August 19, 2015
This was no slip of the tongue. Carson hammered his point, reiterating, "The take home point is this. We have excellent military leaders. We need to employ their expertise because this is a war we are fighting. That’s the bottom line."
A hero for his legendary medical career at Johns Hopkins – which he regularly cites as evidence of his past saving lives – Carson's intent to kill people to control immigration could put his reputation at risk.
