NBC and CBS are projecting Democrat Elizabeth Warren will win the Massachusetts Race and turn GOP incumbent Sen. Scott Brown out of office.
On a night when up to a dozen Senate races were in play, the Massachusetts race was the marquee attraction in the battle for majority control.
Brown shot to national fame in January 2010 when he won a special election to succeed Democratic icon Edward Kennedy, who died in August 2009. The former state senator became an instant Democratic target for defeat in this election cycle.
Warren, a Harvard University law professor, has become a liberal darling in her first race for elected office. She helped President Obama create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and won a featured speaking slot at the Democratic convention in Charlotte.
One political tidbit: Brown and Mitt Romney share a political consultant.
