Syrian Electronic Army launched multiple attacks on website of CNN, Time and the Washington Post. SEA has notoriously targeted media outlets including the Financial Times and Reuters. According to CNN the hackers worked into the servers of Outbrain, a service CNN use to recommend links to its users. The hacking of Outbrain meant that the readers were directed to a link leading to SEA’s website. The service was temporarily disrupted on Thursday.

Syrian Electronic Army launched multiple attacks on website of CNN, Time and the Washington Post. SEA has notoriously targeted media outlets including the Financial Times and Reuters. The hacking of Outbrain meant that the readers were directed to a link leading to SEA’s website. The service was temporarily disrupted on Thursday.

The Washington Post Web site was hacked today, with readers on certain stories being redirected to the site of the Syrian Electronic Army. The group is a hacker collective that supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Post is working to resolve the issue.

The Syrian Electronic Army aggressively supports Syrian president Bashar Al-Asad. Attacks by the SEA has caused huge uproar in the international media and a false tweet from the account of Associated Press about the white house being attacked has even resulted in plummeting of the stock market.
