Don Lemon and Van Jones disagreed over Monday night's Ferguson protests. Were the demonstrations violent or mostly peaceful?

Following the on-air tear gassing of CNN’s Ferguson reporting team, Don Lemon and Van Jones went after each other on the air.

Jones accused Lemon of “insulting” the people of Ferguson by calling the demonstrations violent.

“In my estimation there’s been too much political correctness, trying to appease protesters,” Lemon said. “I don’t mean appease the people out there peacefully. There was nothing peaceful about last night.”

Jones stated that most of the demonstrators were peaceful with just a handful of “knuckleheads” causing problems.

“I can’t let this stand,” Jones said. “This is an insult to the people out there last night…It was an insult to the people of Ferguson, who have done more than 100 trainings for nonviolence.”

The discussion quickly became heated, with New Day host Chris Cuomo trying to play mediator.
