The National Rifle Association (NRA) chief Wayne LaPierre told NBC's "Meet the Press" that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has an "insane" approach to gun control.
He said, “Bloomberg can’t spend enough of his $27 billion to try and impose his will on the American public.”
He also made a reference to Bloomberg’s recently proposed ban on sugar-loaded drinks saying that the people do not want the mayor to interfere in their lives and choices. If the public wants to own guns, they wouldn’t want Bloomberg to tell them otherwise.
LaPierre also said that the universal background checks for gun buyers are a "dishonest premise."
