Former U.S. Senator Jim Webb is dropping his bid for the Democratic Party's 2016 presidential nomination, Fox News reported on Tuesday.

Webb scheduled a news conference later on Tuesday in Washington. His campaign said on Monday that Webb is considering an independent candidacy for president. Fox reported he was not expected to launch any independent bid on Tuesday.
