The White House has no comments on Sanjay Gupta’s reversed stance on marijuana, apparently because spokesman Josh Earnest has not read the apologetic column written by the CNN Chief Medical Correspondent.
As we previously reported, “Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who was once considered by President Obama for the position of Surgeon General, has come out in favor of medical marijuana, reversing his previous position, in an essay titled “Why I Changed My Mind on Weed.”
When CQ-Roll Call reporter Steve Dennis asked Josh Earnest during a press briefing on Tuesday about President Obama’s reaction to Dr. Gupta’s reversal on weed, the White House spokesman declined to answer the question.
“I have to confess, I did not see the Sanjay Gupta column that you’re referring to, so it is hard for me to comment on it at this point,” said Earnest.
Of course, Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s apology has taken everyone by surprise, and now after listening to Josh Earnest’s reply it is quite clear that the Obama administration is included in the list of surprised people.
But questions cannot be dodged multiple times. People expect President Obama to come up with something in the next couple of days, especially the ones living in states where the crackdown on medical marijuana has been quite hard.
