Pressure on FIFA has multiplied after the chief of the Premier League has openly expressed concerns over Qatar’s inspiration to host world cup 2022. The world cup is scheduled to be held in summers of 2022 and this has lead to growing concerns about the health of the players.
The English Football association has stressed that they would be willing to play in Qatar if the world cup is moved to winters. However, moving the world cup to winters mean that all the major football league, which generate significant amount of revenue for FIFA will be disrupted as most of them start from august and end in may.
The Premier league chief has bluntly said that shifting the world cup to winters is not a viable option considering the loss of television viewership and loss in gate money due to the absence of big names and has advocated for the world cup to be moved out of Qatar.
This issue is set to be a nightmare for the FIFA hierarchy during their next meeting scheduled in October.
